Lutheran Women's Missionary Society (LWML)
The LWML was founded over 60 years ago and is an official auxiliary of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. All women members of Galilee are automatically members of the LWML. Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month. We gather for fellowship at 6:45 with our meetings begin at 7 p.m. and usually end at 8 p.m.
The motto of the Galilee LWML is “Serve the Lord with Gladness” Psalm 100:2
Each year Galilee LWML chooses missions to support. This year we have ten (10) missions including:
We have committed to sending $400 to each of these worthy causes. Thrivent Financial matches funds to make our contribution even more beneficial.
All of this we are able to do because of the support of our Galilee members and neighbors who attend our annual Peach Festival, Harvest Bazaar, and for the first time this year Spring Thing Flea Market.
Some of our other projects are: Adopt-A-Seminarian Student, Lutheran World Hunger Relief Bake Sale, and Samaritan’s Purse (Christmas Child Shoe Boxes) Postage and Habitat for Humanity.
We also “Serve the Lord with Gladness” through our mite boxes based on the biblical account of the widow’s mite (Luke 21:1-4). Mite Box contributions fund district and national mission grants. Lutheran women all over the country save our coins and send them in to fund many missions. Last year $3,000 in mites money was sent to Galilee Lutheran Pre-school to assist in tuition.
We invite you to become an active member with us in ministry to the people of our community and the world.
We laugh, we learn, we work. Join us. Try it! You’ll like it!
