Worship at Galilee

It takes many people to make worship at Galilee possible. The Galilee Worship team is currently led by Judy Englemyer with the able assistance of many coordinators and volunteers. The worship team always encourages all Galilee Members to find a way to serve God by helping to make the Worship at Galilee a refreshing and spiritual experience.

Email the Worship Team Leader to volunteer!

Worship Position What is it?
Acolyte Acolytes serve during worship to light the alter candles prior to service, assist Pastor during the service, help serve communion and extinguish the candles after service.  This is a great job for the youth at Galilee.
Readers Readers serve during worshi by reading the lessons.  Most Sundays we have an old Testament reading and a new Testament reading with a Psalm in between the lessons.  Readers can be any member.
Ushers Ushers assist in the service in many ways including helping people find seats, helping with the offering, direction the flow of communion services and helping out in any way needed during the service.  The head Usher usually directs the ushers in their duties to make sure tha the worship service runs smoothly.
Greeters Greeters are the people who welcome the worshippers to the service.  They assist by distributing bulletins and children's bulletins as well as provide a friendly greeting to both members and guests.
Media The Galilee Media team is always looking for people willing to serve at any service as projectionist, people willing to develop powerpoint slides for sermons and announcments or people willing to update the songs on the worship software prior to weekend services.  Projection members rotate Sundays at their designated service making sure the projectors are on and working through out the worship.  Training for any of these jobs will be provided.
Altar Guild The Alter Guild is a group of dedicated members who make sure that the Alter area is ready for worship.  This job includes makeing sure the correct paraments are out, changing the alter cloths, setting up communion and cleaning up the alter area after service.
Chancel Choir The Galilee Choir is  directed by by Joel Borrelli-Boudreau and practices on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM in the Choir room.  The choir performs music in many worship styles from very traditional to contemporary.  Anyone interested in joining will be welcomed - there is always room for another singer!
Handbells Galilee has both an adult and a youth bell choir.  NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED.  Bell Choir Director, Mr. Tom Neuenschwander is an excellent teacher and happy to help anyone wanting to play bells participate!  The Galilee RIngers (Adult) Bell Choir practices Monday evenings at 6 PM and Youth Bell Choir practices Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM.
Celebration
Sound
Celebration Sound is Galilee's contemporary praise team.  The team meets for practice at about 3:30 PM on Saturdays and provides worship music for the 4:30 PM Service that same day.  Anyone enjoying contemporary music is welcome to join!
Bread & Wine
Presenters
The Bread and Wine Presenters are the two people who present the Bread and Wine to the alter prior to communion during a communion service.  This is an easy way to serve God as well as a wonderful way for a couple, a Mother and Daughter or  a Father and Sone to serve God together.  It requires very little training and can be easil performed.
Flowers Flowers that decorate Galilee Worship are donated by members and may be given in honor or memory of family members and friends.  This can be done to celebrate a special birthday, anniversery or any special event.  Donations cost a minimum of $20 and can be made by signing up on the Flower chart in the narthex on the bulletin board.
Designated
Gifts (Sunday)
Celebrate a special day such as a birthday, anniversary or special event by donating a 'designated gift' to an area of worship or  a ministry team (see the Ministry Team page) that means a lot to you.  Donations for a Sunday Designated Gift can be made by signing up on the Designated Gift List on the Narthex Bulleting board.
